Rosen, Joseph
(1877-1949)
   American agronomist. He was born in Moscow, and emigrated to the US in 1903. In 1921 he returned to Russia for the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee on a relief mission to the Jews. In 1924 he initiated a land-settlement project in the Ukraine and Crimea for Jews who had been deprived of Soviet citizenship. In 1940 he directed Jewish colonization in the Dominican Republic.
